Anastasia Nesvetailova is professor of International Political Economy at the City, University of London and covers Russia and global political economic issues for MacroGeo.
Her main research interests lie in the area of the global financial system, financialisation processes, economic crises and governance.Her publications include “Fragile Finance: Debt, Speculation and Crisis in the Age of Global Credit” (2007) and “Financial Alchemy in Crisis: The Great Liquidity Illusion” (2010). In addition, Professor Nesvetailova has authored numerous academic and media articles on financial crises, stability and regulation. She is currently working on the political economy of financial innovation, systemic risk, shadow banking and wealth management. Between 2015 and 2016, Anastasia served as member of the Economic Advisory Panel to the Shadow Chancellor of the UK.
Anastasia is the director of the City Political Economy Research Centre (CITYPERC), established in 2012. CITYPERC serves as a hub for research and collaboration between academia, the financial sector, policy-makers and civil society on topical issues of economic policy, financial stability, development and growth.
