Renzi’s Attempt to Snap Elections

Renzi’s defeat in the December 4th 2016 Constitutional Referendum has precipitated Italy into political uncertainty, in a year already characterised by high-risk general elections such as those in France, Germany and the Netherlands. In this paper we discuss the chances of Italy also holding a general election in 2017, and its economic, political and market implications.
